Cover Collection commemorating U Thant

My Cover Collection commemorating U Thant

This is the first day cover of one of the first United Nations Commemorative Stamp Series ever issued to be made with a surface of 23K gold.   The general assembly pictured in the cachet is one of the six main organs of the United Nations.  This is the only body in which all UN members are pepresented and each member has one vote.  Designed by Seth Huntington, this "parliament of man" is another example of the world joining hands to form a circle of peace.

This is the 1962 Official TIME (TIME magazine) Cover.  The drawing feature John F. Kennedy, U Thant and Nikita Khrushchev. Behind them is the earth globe.  Each person is represented by chess piece, meaning the world politics looks like playing the game, where everybody plays its role.  U Thant is presenting Olive Branch meaning "peace" to US President J.F Kennedy from Khrushchev, the Premier of Soviet Union, over Cuba Crisis.
On the back side, TIME magazine logo is printed, together with the address "keizersgracht 590, Amsterdam-C".  Cover has a postage paid imprinted stamp "Nederland port paye Amsterdam".  It is postally used from the Netherlands to Germany.
