Visit to The Tintin Shop

Today, I have visited The Tintin shop.  It is located near the China Town MRT station, Singapore.  I have been amazed with the great collection of Tintin memorabliers and product featuring Tintin.  It has got Tintin postcards, T shirts, stationaries, comics books, collectible postal stamps, and figures ranged from small keychain size to life size figures.

Actually, I am familiar with Tintin shop facebook page since three months ago.  But, I am not happened to go there.  The shop looks like Tintin museum rather than a shop.  It showcase with nice decor.  Once I stop at the enterence of the shop, Tintin, together with snowy, greets me to visit.  You can see him in the above photo.  And then, my steps move into the shop and see that Captain Haddok is running to me.   Ha ha, it's really a life size figure of Mr Haddok.

The shop displays total of three life size figures: Mr Haddok, Tintin and Snowy.  And, showcase limited edition figures which featuring the scene from tintin comics books.  Everyone can find the complete set of comics books there.  For the mini figures and limited edition figures, there is "No Photography" sign, so I cannot take photo.  If anyone interested, you can browse its web site and facebook page.  Here, please note that I am not advertising, just sharing my experience for those who are interesting Tintin.

And I continues to visit the shop, loking around the items, most of them are collectable.  The products I have seen are bags, stationaries, T Shirts, watches, DVDs, PVC figures, keychains, books, and postcard.  As I am interested in Philately, I have bought a postcard for myself.  It costs me six times to the normal postcard price.

When I pay for this, The cashier give me the business card for this shop.  The shop logo is desined with Tintin and Snowy.  For Tintin collectors, it can be added to your collection.

As conclusion, I am satisfy with its complete collection of Tintin and its comics characters, Snowy, Haddok, Thomson, Thompson and so on.  To those interested in collectible figure, comics, Tintin, I urge you to visit the shop.

DE-006 Postcard from Germany

DE-006 Postcard from Germany

Actually, the sender is from Germany and he sent the card using TouchNote (http://www.touchnote.com/) , online service.  So, the card traveled from Guernsey to Singapore, not really from Germany.

The drawbacks of such online service to send the postcards are:
  • There is no stamps affixed and postal cancellation. (But SingPost's mobile application "Post-a-Card" affix the real postage stamp and got proper postal cancellation.)
  • There is no hand writing greeting, text and signatures.
  • The web app crops the image uploaded.  So, the sender must good care of selecting photo size.  For this card, the actual picture he/she want to send is as follows.

NL-003 Postcard from Netherlands

NL-003 Postcard from Netherlands ~~ European Youth Olympics Day (Maxicard)

This postcard is the official Postcrossing card.  When I received the card, from Netherlands, there is no complete card ID.  She just write the ID as NL-13.  At first, I am happy as I think this card is from the special country and the card is the 13th card from this country.  After I checked the country code, NL, I have noticed that comes with wrong ID.  So, I use "search the Postcard ID" feature, and it's my first time ever.  Luckily, postcrossing support can send me the correct ID within half an hour.  Excellent experience.

The sender is kind hearted.  She bought this maximum card from old antique souvenir shop especially for me because I mentioned that I am interested in maxi card and Olympics in my profile description.  This is the Maxi Card of European Youth Olympics 1993.  I really appreciated her.
